What is the Twilight Forest?
Twilight Forest is one of modded Minecraft's oldest and most loved dimension mods, created by Benimatic and maintained by TeamTwilight for Forge and NeoForge. The dimension is a perpetual dusk forest dotted with landmarks: hollow hills, hedge mazes, labyrinths, dark towers, and ice fortresses, each hosting its own boss.
Progression is structured: bosses unlock regions in order, with magical barriers blocking areas whose prerequisite boss still lives. That gated adventure-map feel is the mod's identity.
Making the Portal
- Dig a 2x2 hole and fill it with water.
- Surround the pool with natural plants such as flowers, tall grass, or mushrooms.
- Throw a diamond in and stand back; lightning strikes and the pool becomes a portal.
Step in to arrive in the Twilight Forest. The dimension sits "below" the overworld thematically — light is dim but stable, and hostile mobs roam mostly in dungeons rather than the open forest.
